President's Message
You all have likely read the message from the weekend about our grape picking event that we did at Lyn McGowan's place on Saturday morning. I have to comment again of, what a great day it was and how quickly we got all of the grapes picked in record time. I don't know who's record it was, but it seemed like record time to me anyway. That only happened because of the many hands that came out to help.
We are thankful that our work day was Saturday and not Sunday, that would have made for a very nasty picking event and a very messy one to boot.
A couple of things are happening this week.
First just as a reminder, that if you happened to sign up to contribute to the Rotary Foundation walk and have yet to make your contribution, I would be happy to take your payment on Tuesday morning, so that I can complete the process and get the money off to the Foundation.
Second is, Halloween night. Last week, I sent out a message about helping out with a function at the arena on Thursday evening. The Dukes are hosting their first Halloween skate for kids and a haunted house event at the arena. The event is free to attend and they will have the snack bar open and will offer free hot drinks and likely free popcorn. We are still looking for help with the games being set up in the main corridor and also a couple of people to help control the number of people entering the haunted house that will be set up in the Rotary room.
I know that it is Halloween night and that most of you will have your own functions going on around your own homes. If you are available, it would be greatly appreciated. You can touch base with me Tuesday morning to advise of your availability.

Last Week: Julia Gosson, VON
Julia Gosson, VON, is a past member of Belleville Rotary, owner of Quinte Elite Dance and Fundraiser for the VON, centered in Trenton, and serving Hastings, Prince Edward, and Northumberland Counties. All funds raised locally remain in the Quinte area and support a variety of community programs including homecare (independence) for seniors, fitness programs for seniors, exercise and fall prevention, stroke recovery, and respite services especially for care givers of patients with dementia.
The VON receives some funding from the Local Health Integration Network but is not fully funded for new equipment or community programs. Fundraising supports these initiatives. Julia’s team raises approximately $250,000 annually, part of which comes from donations from local service clubs, including Wellington Rotary.
Barry Davidson left word that resurfacing of the Millennium Trail will begin shortly in Wellington and will provide more details next week about memorial tree planting.
Suzanne and Parker Gallant have volunteered to host the Anniversary Potluck Supper scheduled for November 19th. More details will be available shortly. There will be no morning meeting on that day
