Pres. Ken reported:
- A thank you from Rebecca of the Quinte Science Fair for our donation.
- A request for a walker aid was referred to the Lions Club.
- An offer for a memorial bench at the beach was advised that until the review of facilities there was completed, no additional benches were being added.
- A donation of $1,000 was made to Quinte Sailabilty following their presentation to our Club.
- In Yvonne’s absence, Trudy gave the Treasurer’s Report; details of which are on our website. She commented:
The Treasurer's report was given by Trudy Brown in Yvonne Buy's absence.
- The target for the Bottle Depot will be close to being made by year-end.
- The maple syrup profit was over $11,000.
- The D&D books profit was over $8,000.
- The General Account balance is healthy,
- and the Hospital Account balance is over $49,000, for which there will be a cheque presentation for the AR machine soon.
- Howard Ziedenberg moved acceptance of the Treasurer’s Report, William Mulholland seconded. Carried.
Norm Dodgson reported that 390 D&D books were sold and 26 were given to advertisers.
The golf tournament has sold out but we still need hole sponsors and prizes if any members know somebody. Participants are urged to get their fees paid in to Trudy by e-transfer or cheque.
Bill Pennell reported on the dinner/dance planning that a ticket price of $100 has been decided and the theme will be “Diggit, Back the Build” so get out your hard hat & scrubs or bell bottoms and platform shoes.
Canada Day float & ribs will need volunteers. Tim Cox was asked to drive Dave Robinet's truck to haul the float.
Norm Dodgson advised on Literacy Programs:
- A new story would be on the Storybook Walk within the month. Ted and he are looking at what repairs need to be made to the stands.
- The Free Reading Program is in effect at CML Snider.
- He will be contacting the principal of CML Snider about the candidates for the Rotary CML Scholarships for this year to be presented at graduation June 23.
Peter Campbell reported on Membership:
- The Board is recommending Munir Touteh’s application for membership to the members, moved by Peter, seconded by Lyn, carried. Peter will send his application to all members for comment.
- Membership dues of $200 will be due after July 1. Payment before then could be made by cheque, but please do not e-transfer to Trudy until after July 1.
Trudy Brown reported that 18 children are signed up for the summer camp, 11 to PEFAC and 7 to Kente.
Dave Robinet reported that he is meeting with Corey to show him the Beach Mat proposal and ask him to get Council’s support to install it. Lyn and Roger have applied for a District Grant to fund half of the $15,000 cost.
Tim Cox gave a report on the Recognition Day for Wellington residents who helped the Rotary Club in its 20 years. It will be noon to 6 pm on Sunday, August 20, a day the members agreed on. Lana will help him get the liability insurance. Howard is asked to arrange a hand-washing station. It will be advertised several times in The Times. Participants will be asked to bring their own chair.
Pres. Ken reported that the Community Centre naming rights request is further delayed so our financial commitment will likely be in our next fiscal year.
David MacKinnon reported that the application to the government for the nurse practitioners is to go into the government this week. A separate application by the Family Health Team for three nurse practitioners was unexpected, but not as beneficial as ours so David thinks we will persevere. He will be developing a promotion campaign to the County and the province for us to use.
Members attending the Past President’s dinner on June 27 are to pay $40/person to Trudy Brown.
Trudy Brown advised that nominations for Rotarian of the Year may still be submitted to her until June 1.
A motion to donate $1,000 to The HUB for children’s camp was moved by David MacKinnon, seconded by Kim Lee, carried.

Pres. Ken announced that there will be no charge for June breakfast because there is a surplus in this account. Dave Robinet. announced there will be breakfast sandwiches added to the menu.
Trudy Brown reported on the house fire of the Mustafa family at 156 Main Street, Wellington , on Sunday. The family is safe and living temporarily with family in Belleville. A residence in Wellington is being sought so the kids can continue in CML Snider. A commercial kitchen is being sought so they can continue their business of Papa Ghanoush and Mama Humus. A GoFundly page has been started to help them. Trudy will email members the details.
Howard Ziedenberg advised that Career Edge has tokens available to offset the cost of taking the SmartServe test. He will advise those who have submitted their name to him.
Today, Dave Robinet’s number was drawn for the 50:50 but he did not draw the ace of spades.
