President's Message

There was no meeting last week due to construction at the 3-sided corner where the Legion exists.

Having some spare time, I decided to go over our roster and I made some very interesting observations:
  1. We were chartered in 2002 and are now in our 23rd year;
  2. We have 45 members (16 women -35.6%; 29 men – 64.4%);
  3. 30 members are retired; 2/3 of the membership;
  4. We have 25 Friends of Rotary;
  5. 5 members reside in Picton; 5 members in Brighton/Carrying Place; 1 member in Hillier; 32 members in Wellington; and 2 members in Bloomfield;
  6. Our weekly club meeting attendance (updated) 77%;
  7. We have 11 members with 100% attendance, taking into account make-ups and the Bottle Depot;
  8. Our members have, or have had, a variety of careers, including the following:
  • Social Services
  • Ophthalmologist/Author
  • Pilot/Instructor
  • Surgeon
  • Hydro Specialist
  • Nursing
  • School Principal
  • Teachers
  • Hotel Resort Manager/Owner
  • Minister (Pastor)
  • Lawyer
  • Hospital Administration
  • Chiropractor
  • Banker
  • Retail Hardware Owner
  • Police/Police Chief
  • Hotel/Bar Management
  • Insurance
  • Accounting/Finance
  • Phone Project Manager
  • Real Estate
  • Engineer
  • Architect
  • Sales Manager
When you dig deep into our club membership, it is amazing who we have and what they have done with their lives. When you look at the list of professions, it becomes very obvious why we, as a club, are so successful...why we are the epitome of “The Magic of Rotary.”

Our weekly Rotary AHA (Eureka) moments of our members have opened my eyes to problem-solving, fundraising, successful committees (health, youth membership, literacy). We should all be very proud of the accomplishments of this club – The Magic of Rotary.

Let us not forget the contributions of our club members who have passed on. They, along with our remaining founding members, set the footings for our amazing pillars of success and “The Beat Goes On.” Thank you, thank you.

Annual Wellington Rotary Beach cleanup & BBQ was held on
Saturday April 26, 2025.

Thank-you to all that came out in the cold and wind.  Once again, it was a huge success, with many Rotarians, spouses, and Friends of Rotary making quick work of clearing the boardwalk and picking up any trash.  It was followed by tasty burgers and hotdogs with all the fixings and salads and cookies included.  Thanks to Past President Ken and his team for organizing the event.  Thanks to Margo for taking care of the food and nourishment.

Four Way Test

       Of the things we think, say, and do:
        1.  Is it the TRUTH?
        2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
        3.  Will it build GOODWILL and better
             FRIENDSHIPS?
        4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all
             concerned?

Rotary Song

R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serve the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
