Yvonne reported that the profit from the maple syrup project will be about $10,000. She has 19 bottles left. Ken explained that the Board had discussed whether or not to expand this project in future years and decided not to since it was in competition with local producers.

- March 30, 11:30 am - Yvonne volunteered
- April 4, 10 am
- Apr 13, 10 am
Concerning the process for new members, Ken outlined the procedure:
As a sponsor, members should invite anyone showing interest in joining the Club to come to three meetings (not including Club Forums) as a guest. During these visits the candidate can see how they like us and we can see how we like them. The Club will cover the breakfast cost. Advise Peter, Membership Chair, of the person’s interest. If there is an interest, Peter will provide a membership application form to the sponsor to be completed with the candidate. Upon completion, the Board will consider the application.
Rotary Camps of Hope will start in early May. Ken and Trudy have arranged with PEFAC for two spots for eight weeks at $135/week for 16 weeks. Cynthia Riordan of The Storehouse Foodbank will identify candidates if we give her a description of the camp’s program. Liz suggested travel to the Picton location may be needed for some children. Ken and Trudy will approach the HUB to see about more spots. David Smith asked that if they have space that they come and explain to us their programs. He has openings for speakers in May. For future years, Ken was advised that Baxter art camp’s registration was full by February.
The accessibility project for a mat on the Rotary beach will be explored further by having the supplier visit Wellington again and present us with what is required to suit an installation.
The beach cleanup is scheduled for April 22 10-1 with a Bar-BQ at 1 pm. Friends of Rotary volunteers are to be invited and recognized at this time. Lana will obtain the food and organize it with the necessary supplies but cannot be available that day. Ken will identify someone to arrange for the BBQs and organize the cooking.
The Past President’s Dinner will be held June 27.
Further purchases of equipment for the hospital can be considered but there may be other causes that we want to support.
Ken said that there are two things still to be done that he said he would do this year as President:
A monthly overview of the Rotary magazine - David Hawkins will be given a brief period to do this.
Increase support for local youth - David Smith reported lack of response from the head of the local hockey and baseball leagues to his overtures. Ken reported that Norm will have another go at it, and Chris and David Smith agreed to assist.
