President's Message

Last Thursday, a number of our Club members were at Domaine Darius for some picture taking and product sampling with the Gillinghams. Many thanks to Margo for arranging the session, Dave Robinet for his fine photography work, and Lyn McGowan for the nice job she did on the Rotary Appreciation plaque we presented to Dave Gillingham.
Reg Gemmell sent me a note with some details that encouraged me to do some research on the Club’s Charter Night which was celebrated on Thursday, November 28, 2002. Below is the list of gifts that were presented to our Club as part of our club’s inauguration:
  • Club Banner from the Rotary Club of Belleville

Last Week:
Nyden & Amanda Kovatchev (Hello/Bonjour)

The meeting was opened by President Howard who referred to guest presenters and prospective member Linda Douville present for the third time. He also recognised ADG Brenda Hillyer and referred to the passing of a former Club Rotarian, finally reporting on the progress of Larry and his wife.

Introduced by Bill M, Amanda & Nyden explained about their recent move to the County and the establishment of an exciting venue for healthy, nutritious, tasty and locally-sourced eating called ‘Hello, Bonjour’, in Wellington. After covering some of their more recent history, they shared their philosophy of food and how their presence could work to support a number of local initiatives as well as providing a source of ‘comfort’ in a number of ways. They had several interesting ideas, not only for their own business but local enterprises in general.

After a lively Q & A session, Amanda & Nyden were thanked by David M.

Michelle made a request for members to solicit potential advertisers for the new Duffers & Diners discount book.

The Club’s latest member, Bill Hurst, sponsored by Barry, was inducted by President Howard.

Staffing of the returns depot is covered until December and thanks go out to the fantastic support of our Friends of Rotary for their commitment to this fund-raiser.

There will be a Club representative at the County Economic Development Committee on Nov 16th.

Several ideas were put forward regarding up-coming fellowship events including possible connection to our sponsoring Club in Picton.

Lana up-dated on Xmas Angels. All gifts to her by Dec 8th.

Dave R reiterated the need for members to step up to Board positions, especially President Elect.

President Howard closed the meeting, after covering birthdays, anniversaries and happy dollars, at 8.08.

R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serve the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.

Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say, and do:
        1.  Is it the TRUTH?
        2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
        3.  Will it build GOODWILL and better
             FRIENDSHIPS?
        4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
