President's Message
My last President’s message – no hoorays allowed!
I cannot express the joy I’ve received from the privilege bestowed on me during this past year. I had a blast, and I hope you enjoyed the year as well.
The year started on a great note. Pierre and Connie hosted a fellowship BBQ on their beautiful property. Lake, pool, amazing food, stories, and laughter are the formula for a great time.
Before I knew it, December arrived and looking back, we accomplished so much as indicated in my first President’s message of the New Year.
The second half accomplished so much as well:
Finally closed the file on the Community Centre’s electronic sign
Fellowship dinners concluded with 36 of 44 members involved as hosts and/or guests
Donations and money raised for the food bank’s storehouse
The Health File led by Dave McKinnon had an amazing year with presentations and health partnerships
Maple syrup fundraiser, golf day fundraiser, electronic recycling, Diners and Duffers, were all very successful. We financially helped the Picton Hospital Back the Build, student scholarships, and the food bank storehouse
Ken, with the assistance of Peter, ensured that we had food for all our meetings, and we all realize this is very time consuming. Thank you both
We have achieved around 84% attendance at our meetings. This is very meaningful because it indicates that we are all very involved in the success of our club.
All in all, a very successful year. I want to thank each and every one of you for all that you contributed to this amazing year.
Now, we prepare for the new Rotary year, under President-Elect Yvonne. We leave “The Magic of Rotary and slide into “Unite for Good.”
Roger Tessier
President 2024/2025
On Second Thought: Wellington Rotary is a cohesive family unit. Each and every one of us would help each other and that’s what makes us so special.

Rotary meeting minutes June 24, 2025
Notes by Chris Compeau
The meeting was called to order by President Roger at 7:07 am
33 Rotarians were present.
Ken asked for 2 volunteers to carry the Rotary banner during the Canada Day parade.
The Rotary song was sung. ‘O’ Canada’ was sung. David Hawkins recited an invocation. Breakfast was served.
Roger inquired about the health of members. Unfortunately Mike’s twin brother recently died from pancreatic cancer. Peter’s wife’s health is deteriorating rapidly.
Club Forum
Chris provided a review of correspondence messages received and sent.
In Bill Pennel’s absence, Yvonne provided a comprehensive treasurer report for the month of May 2025. Ken questioned whether the main street road closure impacted club income via the bottle depot. Mike reported that there was reduced income when compared to prior years. Ken felt that our club should notify council of the reduced revenues due to the road closure. He asked Mike to provide precise data with respect to lost income. Colin moved to accept the club financials for May as presented; seconded by Mike Lattner; approved unanimously.
Roger commented on the deplorable state of the beach boardwalk. Ted reported that, together with John Inwood, they have met with councillor Englesdorfer and plans are underway to repair the boardwalk.
Robynne spoke on her Public Image portfolio. She discussed the potential liability of posting images of non-Rotary members on social media from our recent golf tournament. She is putting together a newspaper article for the Wellington Times to highlight club accomplishments over the past year.
Norm provided an update on his literacy portfolio. The storybook walk posts are in good shape on the Wellington beach boardwalk. Two Wellington Rotary scholarships will be given at the PECI graduation ceremony this week – Yvonne will be our representative. The two recognition awards will be given at the CML Snider graduation ceremony this week – John Inwood will be our representative. Mary reported that a total of 375 D and D booklets were sold this year yielding a club net profit of $14,000 (which is a new record for this initiative).
Yvonne reported on the efforts to find a new location for the Wellington Storehouse Foodbank. A deputation before council was conducted last week with promising outcomes. The affordable housing corporation will coordinate efforts with the foodbank to achieve their goals.
Yvonne reviewed member’s roles and responsibilities for the upcoming Canada Day events in Wellington.
Lyn reported on finalized plans for the Past Presidents dinner this evening

Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say, and do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all
concerned?

Rotary Song
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serve the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
