President's Message
Rain, rain go away, everyone wants to get out the play golf and work in the garden. The next week should bring some sunshine and temperatures in approaching 20C, so things are looking up.
This past weekend President Elect Lyn McGowan and Roger Tessier attended the District Assembly. We will get their update on Tuesday on District priorities for the next year, including cost for membership and insurance in the coming year.
We look forward to hearing from Colin Fredericks on his return from an extended visit to his homeland Malaysia. It must be a wonderful experience to return to the country you were born, visiting relatives and spending time with childhood friends. Hopefully he will fill the guest speaker's chair at a future meeting.
As we near the end of the Rotary year I continue to marvel at the work of my fellow Rotarians and the support that we get from the community of Wellington. While working at the Bottle depot one can't help but notice how people making donations also leave comments. "You folks are doing wonderful work in the community, thank you" is a common theme I notice. Always proud to be a member of an organization that believes in "Service above Self". Well done everyone.
I am happy to report that as a result of the efforts of our Wellness Committee working closely with the Belleville Nurse Practitioner Clinic, a formal application for a satellite unit in Wellington will be submitted shortly. We hope the government will support this request which would help address the growing number of orphan patients in the County. Thanks goes out to David MacKinnon, Dawn Cutler, Chris Compeau, Yvonne Buys and David Smith for their commitment to address this crisis in health care.

Last Week: Caitlin Cronkwright (The Hub)
Notes by Barry Davidson
30 members today were present with one guest, Munir Touteh, to listen to Caitlin Cronkwright tell us about the HUB Child & Family Centre.
The HUB has a staff of 76 and they are always hiring, but find they are short-staffed for the programs that could be put on, if they had more staff. Their funding comes from PELASS (Social Services) and registration fees. Their staff salaries range from $19 - $22/hr. Volunteers are welcome to help but their time does not count in maintaining the student/teacher ratio which is 1-15 for age 7 and older, 1-13 for age 4-6.
Caitlin coordinates five after school programs and two pre-school programs. The latter accommodates 86 children in Picton and 33 in Rednersville. Both programs have a waiting list. When asked for the best time to register, she tells women to register when they become pregnant.
Caitlin also plans the summer camps to which our club has reserved two spots for eight weeks this summer. Her camps have 76 spots in Picton, 25 at CML Snider and 6 at Kente. They provide a variety of activities in different school rooms geared to the age of the participants, including getting outside to the pool, splash pad and zoo trips.
Club Business
Sharon Campbell is to be named an Honorary member of the Club for her dedicated service that she cannot continue because of her health. Reg will be asked to assemble a picture book of memories to be given to Sharon with which she could reminisce about her time in Rotary.
Trudy advised that the setup for the Past President’s Dinner on June 27 at WOTL will not start until 5:30. She also encouraged candidates for Rotarian of the Year to be forwarded to her by June 1.
Ken advised that the Golf Committee would meet next week after the members’ meeting.
Today, Bill Mitchell’s number was drawn for the 50:50 but despite it being his birthday, he did not draw the ace of spades.

Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say, and do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and better
FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all
concerned?

Rotary Song
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serve the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
