President's Message
Wasn’t that a party! Thanks again to Past President Howard for hosting such a wonderful Past Presidents Dinner … a great way to end my year as Club President. In my final bulletin message, I thought I’d share some of the highlights from our last 12 months:
We welcomed 3 new Rotarians: Christine Dimitris, Peter Campbell & Norm Dodgson. And, welcomed new Friends of Rotary.
We donated to various charities in the community, including: Quinte Sailability, PEFAC, Wellington Legion, HPE Learning Foundation, The Children’s Foundation Camps of Hope, Wellington Library, Quinte Science & Tech Fair, Alternatives for Women, Quinte Access, CML Snider School, Heal with Horses, County Kids Read, Belleville Youth Centre, Wellington United Church, Community Care for Seniors, LoveSong Housing, Wellington Storehouse Foodbank … and, 5 post-secondary bursaries. In addition, the Club achieved the $400k / 5-year commitment to the New PEC Hospital … and, made a new commitment of approx. $62k for PECMH Equipment (an Automated Endoscopy Reprocessor, and an ECG). We also donated to The Rotary Foundation, Polio Plus, International Rotary Project, and Emergency Aid, including The Red Cross (for BC Floods), and Ukraine Aid
We provided Community Service: Bottle Depot operations on 101 days (plus approx. 45 Tuesday’s for larger volume customers) …. design & development of the Memorial Garden, with dedication ceremony in October … pumpkin weighing at a scaled-back Pumpkinfest … installed a shower stall at Kate’s Rest … provided many hours of volunteer support to the COVID vaccination clinics … collected and reset donated laptops for Nibinamik school … Rotary Beach clean up and Friends of Rotary BBQ … designated 2 members to work with the County’s Wellington Beach Committee … resurfaced the driveway at the bottle depot … and, designed a plan for the rollout of the StoryBook Walk along the Millenium Trail.
We hosted Fundraising Initiatives: Rotary Golf Day in September … Maple Syrup in the spring … Diners & Duffers Coupon books … and, of course, the Bottle Depot.
Pretty awesome for a small-town Rotary Club with 43 members. THANK YOU EVERYONE for a FANTASTIC YEAR!
Trudy Brown

Past President's Dinner - 2022 Rotary Year End Passing of the Baton
Wasn't that a Party, Indeed! There were over 60 attendees at the dinner, including District Governor Ron Dick and his wife Karen, and special guests from PECMHF Shanon Coull and Nancy Parks, as well as Betsy Sinclair, Mark and Sarah Armstrong.
Dinner of roast beef and various salads and extras, capped off by sumptuous desserts, was catered by Bill and Marnie of The View.
We fulfilled our pledge of $400,000 towards PECMHF's Back the Build campaign by presenting the last instalment to Shannon and Nancy. Pictured below is our collective group celebrating the event:
Charter Member and Past President Bill Mitchell was awarded Rotarian of the Year for 2021-2022, for his dedication and numerous work for the club, including marshalling the volunteers for the Bottle Depot:
There was also a "changing of the guard" so to speak, as we thanked our current President Trudy Brown, and welcomed our new President Ken Robertson and Board of Directors for 2022 -2023 Rotary Year.
