President's Message
Hello fellow Rotarians,
As your newest President I would like to say that I am proud to be a part of our incredible club. What helps to make us so incredible, is the fact that there are many great people within our club.
The years theme is "Rotary Connects the World". I can certainly attest to that with some of my recent experiences while I was away recently in Panama. My wife, friends and myself were walking around a town in Rural Panama called Coronado and we came across a restaurant where we were going to have lunch. As we were entering the restaurant I immediately saw a sign that said Rotary meets here Tuesday’s at noon.
It was past 1 pm, and there standing by the counter by the cash register was a couple of gentlemen wearing Rotary shirts. I just had to introduce myself. There was an instant connection and friends were immediately created.
From that point, both Mary & I got involved in assisting the club at a fund raising event the following weekend and I further attended a couple of their meetings. It was during the fund raising event that I learned of a project that they have underway that will assist kids of all ages with counting, and I knew right there than that I wanted to do whatever I could to help their club reach their goals to qualify them for a global grant.
My role was small in the scheme of things, but it shows how one moment can lead into other great things and how one club is connected to another while still being thousands of miles apart.

Treasurer's report for May 2019 presented by Trudy Brown, Pres. Phyo presented year in review of all the events that we held.
Membership update by Director Parker Gallant. 3 departing Rotarians (Sharon A., Carol L., Brent I.) 2 potential new members.
New Directors: With VP position abolished, Past Pres. Brian McGowan will be Director of Administration. Sharon Campbell will be Director of Communications & Literacy in the absence of Karen Seleck.
Golf Day update provided by Colin F.
July 1 Float & Rotary Rib organization provided by Bill M., & Lana W.
Motions:
1. Board approved donation of $500 to North Kenya maternal project (run by Sarah Walker)
2. Board recommended donation of $1200 to sponsor Wellington Water week, with funds from club's general account, allocated from $1800 donation from Stew Jones of Midtown Brewery last year that is targeted for water related projects. Mike L seconded. passed Unanimously
3. Board recommended donation of $1000 to Wellington Rec Committee to contribute towards Canada Day fireworks, with funds from the general account. Parker G. seconded, passed unanimously.
