This has been a busy week for our Rotary club here in Wellington.
We started the week off with a fantastic Tuesday night pot luck dinner at Parker & Suzanne’s house. It was a great turn out with about 45 of us including spouses attending. And there was such a great variety of food and tasty treats for desert.
Our thanks go out again to Parker and Suzanne for allowing us to invade their home. They were great hosts.
While at the pot luck, I heard that there was a request for a special delivery from Waupoos winery for Wednesday morning before the depot actually opened. A bunch of us got to the bottle depot early for the big delivery. There were a total of 7 of us and we initially thought, we had too many people.
When they arrived with a horse trailer filled with empties, we got to work. With the help of three of their own employees, in just over 35 minutes, we took in 900 empty beer cans, filled 6 pallets with wine bottles, and emptied numerous other wine bottles, that went into the galords and all of that was done before 9 am.
The total payout was $1152.00 of which $152.00 was donated back to the club by Waupoos.
It shows you, when there is a need, we come together as a group and get it done. Many hands make short work.
Friday and Saturday were no exception, with the set up taking place Friday afternoon and the many hands by our Rotary members, Spouses and Friends of Rotary, helping out with the meal prep & clean up on Saturday morning .
