President's  Message

The Rotary moto is Service Above Self and this weekend is a true representative of just that happening, right here in our Wellington Rotary Community. Congratulations to the Prince Edward Cattlemen's Association and the Rotary Club of Wellington for hosting a very successful Fundraiser Dinner last Saturday, to benefit the New Hospital building fund.

Leading up to the weekend, lots of work and good things had been going on, from the co-ordination of different tasks to setting tables, making arrangements for the dinner, organizing auction items, to Sharon Campbell cutting out 40 cows for wall displays. Those involved were all doing their part to make this event special. It all seemed to be falling into place.

Saturday evening was surrounded by some great energy as guests mingled amongst the wine tastings & silent auction items looking for things that they could bid on.  The buzz of people chatting and laughing was incredible. We were all treated to an incredible roast beef dinner followed by a live auction.

We heard this great auctioneer, Craig Carson, that could draw blood out of a stone! Who would have thought that a home-made apple pie could grab a whopping $1000, or a carrot cake to go for $500.  That was the flavor of the night as people had come out to support our community and do what they could to help make this hospital build happen.

In a lot of cases, it wasn’t necessarily the purchase of the item, but rather being able to contribute to a great cause, and that they did.

The involvement of the Cattlemen’s Association was a great addition to our Rotary Fund Raiser, for which we are very thankful and extremely happy.  Thank-you to all who volunteered and participated in the event.
