President's Message

This week's message is about staying connected and how we can help each other in ever changing ways.

You all got the e-blast of the up-coming 2020 Rotary Virtual Convention.

Last week I wrote about some personal experiences and how we as Rotarians adapt to the ever changing world. The message below came through this week and certainly confirms that.

In order to survive in this society, we need to be open minded and accept change and adapt.  We are living proof of just that.

I know that it is still in the planning stage, but I am certain that it will be great. Most of us have never been to an International Convention.  Now we can do it from the comfort of our homes and with virtually no cost.

I have copied part of the message that was sent out in the e-blast below.

Mark your calendars for 20-26 June for an exciting opportunity to gather online with the family of Rotary for our first online convention.

Now More Than Ever, Rotary Connects the World: The 2020 Rotary Virtual Convention will join you with Rotary participants around the world during a time of unprecedented challenges.

Together, we’ll still experience the spirit of Rotary, be inspired by innovation, celebrate our resilience, and explore how clubs are addressing COVID-19. Experience Rotary in action during our Flag Ceremony, witness the power of connection during our general sessions, learn new ways to engage with Rotary during our breakout sessions, find inspiration from our global speakers, and much more.

We have never needed Rotary — and we have never needed each other — more than we do now. We hope to see you online, because Now More Than Ever, Rotary Connects the World.

Message from Mary Lou:

We're planning a surprise, and we'd love your help ASAP!

Wilf Wilkinson, Past President of Rotary International, and active member of the Rotary Club of Trenton, is turning 90 on May 10, 2020.

Please consider mailing Wilf a birthday card to make his special birthday even more special during this time when we cannot wish him Happy Birthday in person.

Wilf's wife Rika is in on the secret and is happy for you to mail a card to Wilf at their home:

141 Dundas Street West, Suite 504
Trenton, Ontario
K8V 3P6

Wouldn’t it be great if we could all play a little role in helping Wilf to celebrate his 90th.  birthday.
Stay connected everyone and help each other.

President Dave Robinet

Club Forum Items Discussed:
  • Received a email of thanks from PECMHF regarding the club's $1700 donation to the PECMH Covid-19 fund.
  • Trudy presented the Treasurer's report.  Accepted unanimously.
  • D&D books:  Michelle provided an update.  Please do not sell any books until May 14.  The committee is still reaching out to businesses to see whether they should extend the expiry dates on the coupons, or whether the books should be discounted.
  • The Board has moved to accept Jacques Michaud application for membership.  Members have one week to voice any concerns. Otherwise Jacques will be accepted as a Rotarian on May 5, 2020.

  • Beach Cleanup:  Phyo provided an update that the County has not completed their Beach improvement plan, and Phyo will followup with Mike Harper and County to see when would be appropriate to do the spring cleanup and to keep track of the County's beach improvement plan,

Rotary Song Lyrics:

R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serve the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.

Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say, and do:
1.  Is it the TRUTH?
2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3.  Will it build GOODWILL and better
     FRIENDSHIPS?
4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
